SALEM, ORE. – The Oregon Water Resources Department (OWRD) invites Oregonians to help shape the future of the state’s water resources by reviewing and commenting on the second draft of the 2025 Integrated Water Resources Strategy (IWRS). This statewide plan, developed in collaboration with other water-related agencies, provides a roadmap for protecting and managing Oregon’s water for people, farms, businesses, and ecosystems.

First adopted in 2012 and updated every eight years, the IWRS helps state agencies make informed decisions about water management. The latest draft builds on public input gathered in 2023 through community conversations and an online survey, where nearly 2,000 Oregonians shared their concerns and priorities.

“Oregon’s water future depends on the actions we take today,” said Ivan Gall, director of the Oregon Water Resources Department. “The Integrated Water Resources Strategy is our roadmap to ensuring clean, reliable water for people, farms, businesses, and ecosystems. This updated strategy strengthens our commitment to equity and collaboration, data and science-based decision making, and we invite all Oregonians to help shape the path forward by sharing their input.”

Public feedback from this review will help refine the final IWRS, which will guide the state’s water management efforts for the next eight years. This public comment period is open for 30 days from Monday, April 7 to Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
